Success

What defines success? Every journey you take in life, work, relastionship, weight loss, over all health, no matter how small, or how imposible, starts with a single step. Know where your going and take the steps towards it. There are no certaincy in life but one thing, you will fall. It is those that get up and keep taking the steps forward that become successful. Do not let the fear of failure hold you back, because you can only fail if you refuse to take the step forward towards your goals.

Goals

Last week I proposed to my girlfriend and now she is going to be my wife. That means preparing for a wedding. Now a goal has been created. We want to be in the best shape of our lives for this day. The wedding now has become the driving force. You need to find your driving force. Make a deadline for your goal and write down why your goal is so important to meet. If you can find that thing that motivates you the most, use it!

Boot Camp

The weather is beautiful and Spring is here! That means it is now time to strap on the running shoes and join a local Boot Camp. Body Sculpting Boot Camp in Edmonton Alberta is now expanding it's days... Monday will be added on as an outdoor running class. It's a little too dirty to start rolling around on the grass, but great for starting to get that blood flow back in our hearts. Wednesday night and Friday night will still stay the same, but now starting April, Monday nights will be added. For those of you paying monthly, there is no increase in charge, this class is just added on to your current selection... For those who have not set up for a monthly commitment, it's not too late. You can still join for the $75/month unlimited plan before April comes. Do not wait, because after April the monthly cost will go to it's regular charge of $100/monthly.

Packages are still avalible for those that want to pay per class.

Pay-as-you go - $20
Once a week - $15 ($180)
Twice a week - $12.50 ($300)
Three times a week - $10 ($360)

All packages are based on a three month commitment.

I look forward to hearing from all of you

Vacation

It is always good to take a break, travel and experiance new things. Once the vaction is over, the training has to start back up. It very easy to allow the body to stay in vacation mode, but it important not to get into that habit. Running is the best way to jump start the body back again. Doing cardio will increase your blood flow and allow you to get back to your pre-vacation intensity.

Weight Loss- the truth about Fats

Nutrition is a way of life not a diet! Understand how food fuels your body. Everyone is different. The basics are the same, carbs supply energy, protein repairs muscle, and fats... What is the function of fat? The big thing fats do is curb your appetite. The only way to loss weight is to burn more calories then you consume. Fat count for 9 calories for every gram, so you have to be careful on how much fat you can consume. But by eating fats your body will burn through your food slower and leave you fulfilled longer, giving your body enough time to absorb the nutrition it needs from your food.

The human body uses fatty acids to do everything from building cell membranes to performing key functions in the brain, eyes, and lungs. The functions of fats include:

Brain – Fats compose 60% of the brain and are essential to brain function, including learning abilities, memory retention and moods. Fats are especially important for pregnant women, since they are integral to fetal brain development.

Cells – Fatty acids help your cells stay moveable and flexible, as well as being responsible for building cell membranes.

Heart – 60% of our heart’s energy comes from burning fats. Specific fats are also used to help keep the heart beating in a regular rhythm.

Nerves – Fats compose the material that insulates and protects the nerves, isolating electrical impulses and speeding their transmission.

Lungs – Lung surfactant, which requires a high concentration of saturated fats, enables the lungs to work and keeps them from collapsing.

Eyes – Fats are essential to eye function.

Digestion – Fats in a meal slow down the digestion process so the body has more time to absorb nutrients. Fats help provide a constant level of energy and also keep the body satiated for longer periods of time. Fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) can only be absorbed if fat is present.

Organs – Fats cushion and protect your internal organs.

Immune System –Some f ats ease inflammation, helping your metabolism and immune system stay healthy and functioning.

Great Hockey Game

So I saw my first international hockey game where Belarus vs Sweden... And boy was it an exciting game. Sweden was the favorate but it's nice to see the underdogs work so hard and just come short. They should feel proud because they played a great game. So if you ever feel like an underdog and always in an up hill battle, be proud that you have been working on a healthy lifestyle and enjoy your journey.

Let's go for a walk!

Today my Sister came to visit me in Vancouver, so I didn't get an opportunity to get in a run or lift weights! Although I was able to go for a walk. Now walking is a great way to burn calories. We walked for almost 3 hours and I feel just as satisfied as if I ran for an hour. I was able to burn off the breakfast I had and spend quality time with family, both of which is positive for a healthy lifestyle.

So next time you get together with friends or family, try going for a walk. It's great exercise and great for socializing.
